If you live somewhere where air quality sucks or just feel like you need to shelter your mouth and ears from the outside world, UK company Dyson has something in store for you. Called Dyson Zone, the air purifying headphones will land on the US market in March 2023 for a hefty $949.
Featuring noise-canceling functions and up to 50 hours of battery life – decreasing to four hours if combined with air purification use – the wearable gadget is equipped with filters that can capture up to 99% of particle pollution.
Using an air compression technology, which sucks in fresh air through the ear cups, Dyson Zone filters air through mesh carbon filters that require changing once a year.
Although its silhouette might make you think the design is pandemic-inspired, Dyson Zone has been in the works for over six years. The company made it clear that the air-purifier-meets-headphones hybrid isn’t a virus protector, but a tool to filter air pollution.
In other words, the product’s target audience are music-thirsty individuals who live in areas where air pollution is rampant and unescapable.
