Bamboo, a now-closed Liverpool nightclub, had a generous budget for marketing through A-list appearances. According to ECHO, the nightlife hub splashed an eye-watering £50,000 for rapper 50 Cent to make a guest appearance at Bamboo’s launch party.
In 2010, the hip-hop artist turned up at Bamboo Liverpool after his performance at Manchaster arena. Although photos of his appearance made headlines in international tabloids, ECHO reported that Fiddy looked washed-out. His turnup lacked the much-anticipated song performances, as the rap superstar only uttered the word “hey”.
The Liverpool outlet further revealed that clubbers felt let down by 50 Cent’s appearance.
But Bamboo bosses tried to get the most bang for their buck. Not only that prices for booths could reach a jaw-dropping £2,000, but they went like hotcakes.
Back in the day, a Bamboo promoter revealed that the Duke Street venue benefited from a £1 million budget to bring A-list artists inside.
“This is a chance to party with him. The booths are all sold out, but we have tickets ranging from £25 to £150. Everyone will be able to see him.”
Entry prices were not the only costly Bamboo feature. The Liverpool nightclub featured its own signature cocktail that set guests back a whopping £49.
50 Cent wasn’t the only blue-blooded artist to grace the venue. A few months later, pop artist and beauty mogul Rihanna bagged £30,000 to show her face for no more than an hour.
