All About Latitude Festival

This famous festival, which began in July 2006, is owned and run by Festival Republic Music Group Ltd. – a major music promoter in the UK. It is a two-day festival held in the end of July.

The festival is held at the historic 4,200 acre Henham Park in Suffolk, south-east of England.

Latitude showcases a blend of various popular music genres including R&B, pop, indie-rock, folk, and synth-pop.

Every year, this huge festival features top musicians, bands, and artists across several music stages including the Obelisk Arena, the BBC Sounds Arena, the Sunrise Arena, and the Lake Stage.

Furthermore, as the festival grew over time, some stages were added, such as the Alcove Stage, which debuted in 2013, showcasing some talented artists and bands including Chubby & The Gang and Joe Armon-Jones.

Across its different music stages, you can watch not only world class headline acts, but the stars of tomorrow.

Boasting a huge area and featuring several stages that host various events every day, the festival can accommodate up to 40,000 people as a daily capacity.

Latitude attracts such a large number of people due to the diverse range of arts it offers, which includes music, theater, art, comedy, and others.

Latitude seamlessly blends various forms of entertainment, creating a creative space for theater, art, comedy, cabaret, poetry, politics, dance, and literature.

The festival boasts several stages for various types of events. The art stages include the Comedy Arena, The Ballroom, the Theatre Arena, The Listening Post, The Waterfront Stage, The Faraway Forest, Lavish Lounge Arena, and the Trailer Park.

Ever since its launch in 2006, the festival has made its way to becoming one of the major additions to the British festival calendar. 

The “Inspiration Award for Tania Harrison” was Latitude’s first award at the Women of the Year Awards 2006. In 2007, the festival earned the Best Fan Friendly Award, and the list goes on.

To date, the festival has received 14 awards, which are listed on the festival’s website.

Latitude offers a wide range of family-friendly activities for both children and parents, spread across various areas including the Kids Area, the Inbetweeners Teen Area, and the Enchanted Garden.

The Kids Area is an important part of the festival, designed specifically to encourage children’s creativity, wildness, and adventurous spirit.

The 15th edition of the festival was supposed to take place from Thursday, July 16 to Sunday, July 19, 2020. It was planned to be headlined by HAIM, Liam Gallagher, and The Chemical Brothers. Other artists and bands were meant to perform including  Snow Patrol, Michael Kiwanuka, The Lumineers, Keane, Charli XCX, among others.

The 2020 festival was canceled on 27 April because of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

The good news is that you don’t have to leave the fun zone, even after the party has ended. When you purchase your ticket, you will have access to a specific camping zone, which you can change if you wish to camp in a less crowded area.

‘So You Think You’re Funny’ is a famous and influential comedy competition. It has been running since 1988.

During this year’s festival, the winner of the ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ competition will be performing in the Comedy Arena.

Volunteering would be the best option for anyone who wants to be a part of this massive event. As a Hotbox volunteer, you’ll be assisting festival goers to make sure their festival experience is up to the standards.

The volunteers’ duties include directing festival attendees, answering their questions, and reporting any issues to the appropriate staff.

Swimming lovers will not be disappointed at the Latitude festival. This lake is the perfect spot to relax and leave the hustle of the festival behind. The festival’s picturesque lake is open to festival attendees every day until 8PM.

Weekend ticket holders can sign up for an adventure swim or coaching session in the morning before the show begins.
