Your big night out in Lisbon isn’t complete without a taste of the city’s best drunk food.  After spending your night partying until dawn at MusicBox or getting sloshed at the Lisbon Pub Crawl, these late night drunk food spots are all you need to wrap up the night.

From luscious steaks to exquisite cafreal, this city has everything your taste buds might crave.

1. Bifanas at O Trevo

When in Lisbon, eat as the Liboetas do. And this is as local as you can get after a night of binge drinking. There is nothing that’s both eye-candy and soul food for your churning stomach like a bifana – a traditional Portuguese sandwich made with thin pork slices.

Made famous by the late American celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, the bifana is a must-eat drunk food when in Lisbon. Pop in at O Trevo for a wholesome bite because this is the place where the savory sandwich is drizzled with mustard and hot sauce.

It might be a small and unnoticeable eatery, but its delish food sits at the core of  this late night food spot.

Choose from their beef sandwich, schnitzel pork sandwich, and loads of other tempting hot snacks to wrap up your late dining ritual.

2. Shrimp patties at Marlene Vieira

Marlene Vieira is considered one of the best food corners in Lisbon, making it a leading choice when it comes to drunk food. It is named after its chef and owner, Marlene Vieira

While most of the menu is filled with flavourful traditional food items, the shrimp patty is the ultimate crown jewel. Featuring a crispy pocket stuffed with juicy shrimp, this may be what your drenched taste buds need.

If shrimp just isn’t your thing, you can choose from a range of other star dishes on the menu. From succulent octopus and mashed potatoes to risotto and prawns, this eatery is doomed to serve you a fitting meal for your post-drunken session.

3. Juicy seafood at Gambrinus

Craving some shrimp? Head to Gambrinus for some of the best seafood in Lisbon. From freshly grilled shrimps to aromatically seasoned crab, you get the whole sea bounty right onto your plate.

The restaurant is known and loved for its mouthwatering food – that, by the way, features the catch of the day – as well as the cozy and old-fashioned ambiance. Wooden decor dominates the interiors of the restaurant, giving it a warm and homely feel.

While seafood platters make busy rounds, the place also boasts juicy meat and a curated selection of wine. It is pretty much the go-to place where you can savor authentic Portuguese cuisine.

Gambrinus is a gem of local Lisbon, so you can be sure of the quality and taste of the food – especially when you are a late night food aficionado.

4. Steaks at Café de São Bento

An old saying affirms that nothing goes better with meat than drinks – and this late night eatery seems to have this as a motto. Frankly, is there a better way to finish your big night out than digging into some tender steak?

Possibly one of the classics in the Lisbon dining scene, Café de são Bento serves well-prepared Portuguese steak with freshly prepared crisp French fries to any guest passing its doors.

But the old-school eatery’s fame doesn’t necessarily steam from its top-quality steak –  its delicious in-house pepper cream sauce is the cherry on top. The menu features a wide range of food items that have heavenly steaks at their core – such as Filet Mignon and Beef Carpaccio.

The restaurant oozes warmth with its wooden interiors and comfy vibes. Apart from steaks, the seafood fare is also pretty inviting, especially the Portuguese-style prawn appetizers – doesn’t that sound like a dreamy drunk food meal?

5. Cafreal at Cantinho do Aziz

Craving something spicy as a late night drunk food? Nothing beats cafreal.

Tender chicken thighs soaked in a spicy marinade creates this delish dish, which is a Portuguese cuisine native that features African roots. And the best place to savor it is at Cantinho do Aziz, a Mozambican restaurant in Lisbon.

A casual place on the sideroad, this is the perfect spot to soothe your alcohol-drenched and famished tummy. The menu is teeming with oodles of other divine dishes, such as lamb ribs and samosas that come with a special Peri-Peri sauce.

For a perfect ultra-local ending, wash it down with the exceptional Mozambican beer.
