While Glastonbury sells hiked-up festival passes and concert tix make our eyes watery, Salford festival Sounds From The Other City froze ticket prices for its 2023 edition.

The economic squeeze caused by the living cost crisis is on a rampage across hospitality and entertainment sectors. Still, Sounds From The Other City festival passes would cost the same as this year.

Festival director Sian Roberts told BBC there was “no way” the music event would charge more since UK music fans are battling with the ruthless rising costs. The event’s ethos is to be “accessible to everyone,” and raising ticket prices won’t build toward that ambition.

Tickets for Sounds From The Other City will be released in three tiers – £27, £32, and £37 – which festival organizers hope to be “fair prices for 12+ stages and 150+ artists.”

In an official statement, festival organizers asked their audience to “pay for the one you feel you can afford.”

“If you feel you have enough disposable income for a higher cost ticket could you leave a more limited low cost one for someone else?”

Since its 2005 debut, Sounds From The Other City has proven to be a crowd-pleaser for underground music. As a one-day event, the festival puts local promoters and new music on a pedestal while celebrating “the off-kilter beauty of Salford.”
